What is the law about spaying/neutering pets?
Currently there are no mandatory Spay/Neuter laws in New Jersey. BUT it is a good idea to spay or neuter your pet for health and temperament reasons as well as for population control. All cats and dogs adopted from most reputable rescues and shelters, like Montclair Township Animal Shelter, are spayed/neutered before they are available for adoption.
There are many local vets/clinics offering Spay/Neuter surgery and the State offers low-cost assistance options. See info here: https://www.state.nj.us/health/vph/pop-control/
